Chickens

Unlike factory-farmed chickens, our chickens are allowed to mature over a period of at least 84 days, giving a leaner, tastier meat. It also avoids the health and welfare problems associated with accelerated growth.

In such an environment, cruel practices such as debeaking, routinely performed on factory farmed birds, are unnecessary.

Our chickens are free-range and have access to the outdoors throughout the day. Their state-of-the-art houses are moved to a fresh piece of pasture for each new batch of birds. This creates a healthy environment in which there is no need to routinely administer antibiotics to keep the birds free from disease. Their feed is free from GM ingredients.

After slaughter, the meat is hung for 3 days before the chickens are packaged for sale. This, together with the chickens’ natural lifestyle and slow rate of growth, contributes to the fine flavour of Futurefarms chickens.
